Children's figurines and CPSC eFiling

How to prepare figurine and collectible records when the product may be a toy, collectible, decoration, or mixed-audience item.

Audience: Importers of figurines, blind-box toys, collectibles, anime goods, game merchandise, and toy-like desk items.

Collector language is not the whole answer

Figurines may be sold as collectibles while still using toy-like packaging, character branding, small accessories, or child-directed marketing.

Review age grade, online category, retail packaging, warnings, and product photography.
Confirm whether accessories or detachable parts create small-parts questions.
Ask a qualified advisor when toy vs collectible status depends on facts.

Variant mapping matters

Blind-box and character assortments can create multiple Product IDs or Version IDs if the tested/reportable facts vary.

Track SKU, model, character, assortment, material, coating, and accessory variants.
Confirm which exact variant appears in each test report.
Keep version notes when a paint, material, mold, factory, or accessory changes.

Broker handoff

Broker-ready data should not hide category uncertainty. Flag it and provide source-backed fields.

Prepare Full PGA data from the certificate record if a broker files full data.
Prepare Reference PGA identifiers if Product Registry is used.
Attach a clear missing-data checklist for uncertain age grade or tested variants.

Mini FAQ

Common questions

Do adult collectibles need CPSC eFiling?

It depends on the applicable product requirements and facts. CPSCReady helps organize records but does not decide scope.
